At the time, the idea of having to do a complete search of the handlers AND do something the hardware could perfectly well handle on its own annoyed the evil coder in my head.

If I tried it now, I'd definitely keep a regular version around for portability, but stank was only required to run for me at the time =P

Proving that the non-bankswitched NB 6502 core could be used efficiently for the NES did have something to do with it though...
