Hi!

My emu has still problems with scrolling. It can emulate Kid Icarus quite perfect (only some sprite bugs in the chambers and at the heart counter) but when emulating Zelda (1) i have big problems with the left/right scrolling (when i scroll right the bg doesn't really change, when I scroll left i have display errors durring the scroll). Anyone had simmilar problems or has an idea what's wrong with my emu??

Thx for any help

Regards Martin

Hi Indy !

Zelda is changing the MIRRORING during playing the game, so just make sure that your emulator handles changing of the MIRRORING (Vertical, horizontal and even Single screen) properly. Also note that the mappers.nfo file is wrong regarding MAPPER1 mirroring because if Bit0 of Register 0 is 1, then the mirroring is horizontal and if Bit0 of Register 0 is 0 then mirroring is vertical. (And not else !). Also note that it is only possible to change horizontal/ vertical mirroring when Bit1 of Register 0 is 1 (if it is 0 then single screen mirroring is ALWAYS active !)

Hope that this helps you ;-))

Thx for the MMC1 info - now MMC1 should work right -):)
The problem with the scrolling isn't still solved ... I think it's something with the nt mirroring ... also - durring the Zelda intro (only vertical scrolling) the background doesn't scroll correct when the item sprites appear on screen ... maybe it's also a nt mirroring failur.

thx for the help

regards Martin

"Kid Icarus" uses a different Mapper than Zelda 1, right?

I suspect that the scrolling routine in Zelda 1 is Mapper-specific, meaning the scrolling routine would work with the Mapper of that particular game and not necessarily with any other.

No - Kid Icarus and Zelda both use Mapper 1.
