There has been discussion again about a change in the software used to run this forum, due to limitations of post markup. Someone suggested phpBB. There are a few messages in http://nesdev.parodius.com/cgi-bin/wwwthreads/showpost.pl?Board=nesdev&Number=2204 where the most recent mention was made.
I really like the graphic design of the current board. I hope that this can be mostly preserved if new board software is used.
The markup limitations of the current board irritate me. I also notice that scanning for new messages requires lots of page flipping. I could have flat mode be the default, but I think that'd use even more bandwidth. It seems that checking for new messages could be much more streamlined and bandwidth-conserving (maybe I've overlooked a way to do this with the current board).
I'd really like to have a NES development Wiki so that the little bits of useful information can be continually integrated into a set of pages. With a Wiki, the questions would be asked on the information pages themselves, and the answers integrated into the information immediately. If I had Unix experience and server space, I'd set one up on my own. I could help with one hosted here, especially NES APU related pages.
I like the WikkiTikkiTavi Wiki engine a lot (php based): http://tavi.sourceforge.net/
