SubjectNSF *.smc for SNES emulation (question). new

Hey guys. I've come over from VGMusic [I already recognise one name here!], and I have a question about some songs which are in Memblers' NES sound emulator for Zsnes / Snes emulators.

There are some songs within it from a game called Winglancer [I only have the unpatched version of the rom]. The music is quite fantastic, though I've had no luck finding any NSFs of that music, little to no luck finding any ripped MSX music of it, no MIDIs are at VGMusic [I guessed that], and I've not been able to rip .SPCs or .ZSTs, perhaps because the sound is coded differently in some way I can't possibly hope to understand.

Basically, I'd just like to know if those songs from Winglancer, or for that matter, any other of the NSFs within that ROM exist as seperate .NSF files [I guess the latter is definatly true, I found a huge list on Memblers' site]. I'm not exactly sure if this would be the correct place to post this since the site is mainly about Nerd Tracker II, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot ^_^!

(By the way, I would've posted as B1itz Lunar, had I not had my Junk Mail filter set at exclusive with auto-delete on unrecognised addresses. Yay for being an idiot).

Hey.

I got those NSFs from vorc.org, and they're still on there, just buried under all the other news. :)
Go to vorc.org and type "winglancer" in the search form to find it.

Those really are pretty cool, I'll have to try out the MSX2 game sometime.

All those other NSFs were found sitting around various places (sometimes obscure, heheh), but you should find most or all of them on sites linked to at nesdev.parodius.com/2A03/, but especially at http://kamakura.cool.ne.jp/gamemusic/mck_2ch.htm

Yeah, SPC rips won't work from the NSF player because the SPC's memory is being updated 60 times/sec by the main CPU. The SPC format doesn't accomodate that. Music made with Mario Paint has this problem, also.

BTW, it's perfectly cool to post anything remotely related NES music here. That's what this place is for. :)

Speaking of that, do you think it's possible for a game created with C++ or any Windows based programming language to run *.NSF files to play in the game? o_O I thought that was a neat thought somehow.

Absolutly.

In fact I'm in the process of sort of seperating the NSF core from my NSF player so that it could be dropped into any C++ app for music. Kind of like how Alpha-ii's SNESAPU.dll runs SPCs for any Win32 program.

I'm guessing a knowledge in creating a engine that would strictly play *.NSF/*.NEZ files into your C created software. Sw33t!
