SubjectTutes on making NSF files?

I'd like a good tutorial that is going to explain everything, not one that says "Okay, you need to learn this this and this first, because I'm going to be lazy and not explain what any of this means." I found a lot of those...

Heheh, yeah the NT2 docs are pretty sparse in the NSF-creation area, if you've seen that one. I'm thinking that the replay code needs to be ported to another assembler before I update the docs (apparently Windows isn't very cooperative with x816), though if there's anything I can help with in the meantime let me know. That would give me a good idea of what to cover in the docs, too.

There's a pretty good forum starting up at http://2a03.org/, lots of good info there and elsewhere on that site about using MCK.

I would be willing to try to port the replay code to CA65, a very Windows- and UNIX-friendly assembler, under the following conditions:

1. We get Michel Iwaniec's approval on this. This can come in the form of a clarification of the license for NT2.
2. We get the source code for NT2, because NT2 itself is not NT-friendly.

What the hell did the two of you just say?
See, that's what I mean, I have no idea what any of what you just said is, I understand so far only one thing, 2A06, I know what that is! But CA65 and NT2 and all these other numbers and letters... O.O

ca65 is a assembler and i think nt2 is music player/creator

OK, sorry about the mix-up. I was thinking you were asking about making new music in NSF format, you must've meant ripping NSFs from games, right?

The info and tools required for that are here:
http://nesdev.parodius.com/6502guid.txt
http://nesdev.parodius.com/NESAudioRipping.zip
http://www.kibria.de/frhed.html

You need to use a dissassembler, usually.

Sometimes you can just do it with a hex editor and an NSF header template, though. But not very often.
