Someone found the California Raisins NES prototype and dumped it. See if an NSF can be ripped from it.

I've already ripped the NSF, but I'll need permission to post it online.

Whose permission? The permission of the would-be publisher?

No, permission from the person who dumped the ROM (to whom I promised I would NEVER distribute the ROM or NSF).

Well, the game can be downloaded at http://lostlevels.projecthive.com/raisins.zip So it's just up to someone else who hasn't chained him himself up with silly promises making an NSF of it. If you want to save people's time you could reveal where the init & play routines are located.

Doh, I had completely forgotten about that. (TheRedEye is the one I had gotten the ROM from initially)

That music engine sounds unfinished. The square wave channels don't change pulse width. The percussion doesn't even have the hi-hats on them. (An easy way to do hi-hats is to add a 1-frame burst of high-pitch noise before a kick or snare note.) In all, it reminds me of Hatris for NES or perhaps a couple of Spectrum Holobyte's Game Boy music engines. Either that, or some Color Dreams or Sachen game.

I notice that the NSF is under 11 KB unzipped. Would you guess it was impossible to do any better in that amount of space?
