If the counters should need sprites, I have devised a screen which would allow this, allow me to use white on the side-bars on the sides of the Power Pad, and permit no less than 6 rising and falling sprites that we discussed(the counters, which tell where the sprites go by the 8x8 white squares, look like they are across from each other, but they are actually across and alternate, meaning they only take up 2 sprites per scanline), and the rising/falling sprites go in the LARGE white area. Also, this new screen witll permit a 4-digit score counter and a 6-letter name for Player 1 to input. One of my greatest pet peeves is when a game doesn't have quite enough pixels for my full first name. *coughFinalFantasycough*
Even if the counters DIDN'T need to be counted as sprites, this design lets me do more with the graphics.
