Of course it is. Follow these instructions -> http://www.zyx.com/chrisc/solarwarscart.html Be careful to put the ROM on it's proper board. For example, HK-ROM roms go on an HK-ROM board.

You're probably not going to find a board here in America to put FF2j on. FF2j is a 256KB/0KB UNROM cart; all UNROM carts released here in America are 128/0, at least according to the Mappers doc. I myself don't know whether or not you could get away with putting a 256KB EEPROM (do these even exist?) in a board intended for 128KB, but I'd imagine you couldn't. Plus, FF2j has a battery, and few if any U.S. UNROM games had batteries.

FF3j, on the other hand, might work. According to my notes, it's a 512KB/0KB MMC3 (again with battery). Mega Man 4 is also a 512KB/0KB MMC3, but it has no battery. I don't know enough about electronics yet to say whether or not you could add a battery to it.

Ultima uses the right kind of cartridge for FF2j.

Is it possible to put a battery in the cart? Where can I find batteries to buy?

Putting 'ROMz' onto carts is not easy. Make sure you know the difference between EPROMs and EEPROMs. And finally make sure you understand that it is illegal. (Don't laugh :-))

My NES Technical FAQ has a more detailed answer about putting ROMs onto a cartridge, so I recommend looking at that.

I don't know if this will help out, but I put togather a document on N64 carts, and it involves swapping boot and save chips. I know for a fact that if you take a game that supports the 4k save chip, you can install the 16k save chip, and it will work fine, and vise versa. Weather or not something simular is possible with NES carts is a different story. The only way to know for sure, is to test it, I guess. Anyway, if you want, you can check out my dock. It's on Dextrose in the modifications section. I wrote the document under the name MrEx (hehe). My next project is to create All the updated Tecmo Bowls on carts so as to play on my NES. I haven't even ripped apart an NES cart yet, so I could use some help. And Don't worry, I own about 6 Tecmo Super Bowl carts, and intend on getting more. Any help on dumping the edited Tecmo Super Bowl Roms to existing Tecmo Superbowl carts would be a godsend!!

Talk to ya later,
John a.k.a. MrEx ) (lol)

Mr Flash - I might be able to help with the TSB dump to a cart. Send me an e-mail at mknobbe@knobbe.org
