Wow, that's nothing how the 1992-to-present (yeah, they still update it) versions look.

Retro!

Though some of its sections were translated poorly, most of it seems to be OK.

my 2 cents..
the manuals version is a bit old and the scan quality
is rather bad.

Correct, and correct again. This is why I made my comment about the scanned manual. It's incredibly old, bad quality, and looks nothing like the later revisions.

Ain't gonna happen:

1) I was requested back in 1994 not to involve myself with the internals of the SNES/SFC systems, particularly in regards to documentation; otherwise I go to court. I'd have lost such a legal battle in 1994, and it's safe to say I'd lose even bigger today.

2) I want to remain on Nintendo's good side. There's too much at risk (re: Parodius) otherwise. I don't like pissing on positive relationships with console companies.

3) Spitting out public copies of developer docs that are under NDA and copyright is pretty much the epitome of "d00d g0t d4 0-d4y kr4d-l33t r0mz??". I'd like to think that humans have at least evolved in some POSITIVE way in the past 30 years...

4) Scanning the manual is so utterly completely entirely POINTLESS. The way it's printed, the resolution required would be quite high -- and the files quite large. With multiple images, there's no way for you to quickly refer to something or a piece of information ("what's $2108 do again? 5.tif, 6.tif, 7.tif... it's in here somewhere!!"). A PDF would be superb for this, but again, due to the way the manual is printed and the way diagrams are presented, OCR wouldn't work.

The last I heard from a very reliable source (one of the head coders of the Madden series, as well as Clay Fighters, etc.), in 1998 Nintendo was still submitting SNES manual updates -- which means, the SNES is far from dead in their eyes.

I'm already ON their blacklist, I just happened to comply with their requests ~10 years ago. :-)

I myself would still like to see what's changed in their manuals since 1993 though. The manual wasn't as bad as the TIFFs shown here, but the English was still rocky as hell.

Plus, I really hate it when engineers say things like "4K WORD"; ambiguity through the roof. It makes things quite confusing...

Subject2 Pages Missing... new

I find it strange that no one has noticed this yet, and one guy even replied saying it's complete. If the almost unreadable words (and even unreadale lines on some pages) wasn't enough, there's 2 pages missing from the PPU appendix (A69.tif and A74.tif) Is the guy trying to be funny, where are the two missing pages? I knew it was too good to be true.

Why don't you go outside and get some fresh air? And grow up while your at it? I've done nothing to you, yet you post like a jackass. If you weren't busy acting like a forum whore, you would see that there might be infact two pages missing. I even downloaded the file an extra time before I posted that message, to double check if the two files were indeed missing or not (incase my download was corrupt or something). Yea, Nintendo felt like skipping two Appendix numbers for giggles, I highly doubt that. Page 68 is Appendix-1, page 70 is Appendix-3, where is Appendix-2 (A69.tif)? Logic would say that it's most likely missing. Page 73 is Appendix-6, page 75 is Appendix-8, where is Appendix-7(A.74.tif)? Logic would say it's most likely missing. So, since logic points to perhaps two pages missing, I thought I would point it out, in a somewhat sarcastic manner.

instead of being thankful for the information that someone shared with you you start complaining that some pages are missing - that sounds pretty stupid to me.

How about you stop assuming that people aren't thankfull about stuff they are given? I wasn't complaining, I was trying to help out, albiet in a somewhat sarcastic matter. Just because I wanted to help out and point out that there's something missing from the file, doesn't mean I'm not thankfull.

I read the initial post and it's filled with innuendo. I read implications of deception, criticism of quality, and implication that it's not the real thing ("I knew it was too good to be true"). As long as you deny these aspects of your original post, and the legitimate reactions people have had to them, you will find resistance.

Contrast that post with the following hypothetical post:

"Hey, I noticed that there are a couple of pages missing (the page numbers skip them). I re-downloaded the archive to be sure. Does anyone have these?"

If I were doing SNES programming, I would value any official information, even old revisions that were missing a few pages.

Stupid? Hmm, now I never thought I'd come to see this day, but someone does not know what stupid means. That's incredible. That makes them a living embodiment of stupid, unless of course they are not fluent in English. But a misinterpretation of the word "stupid" could only be done by one with red blood cells tainted with stupidity flowing to a brain filled with stupidity and processing stupidity. FistofFury might be pressing an unimportant point true, might not be giving the respect he should be, might be complaining and bitching about two pages, might be overly sarcastic, and might be holding Russian schoolchildren hostage, but as far as I can tell, is not being stupid.

Discussing semantics is fine, but not in a hostile way. Saying that someone's post is stupid may be rude, true, but not something that should be taken personally.

So, now we know those 2 pages are missing. And knowing is only half the battle.
